چکیده
A planar catechin derivative incorporating a lysine moiety was synthesized and showed approximately 400-fold increased radical-scavenging activity relative to naturally-occurring (+)-catechin.

Radical scavenging activity of tea catechins and their related compounds.
(-)-Epigallocatechin gallate was found to be the most effective scavenger among tea catechins for the superoxide anion, hydroxyl radical, and 1,1-diphenyl-3-picrylhydrazyl radical. Examination of the scavenging effects of tea catechins and their glucosides on superoxide anion showed that the presence of at least an ortho-dihydroxyl group in the B ring and a galloyl moiety at the 3 position was ...

متن کاملAntioxidant activity of maillard reaction products from lysine-glucose model system as related to optical property and copper (II) binding ability
Maillard reaction (MR) was carried out in L-lysine-D-glucose (Lys-Glu) model system heated at 120°C for 0 to 10 h without pH control. Optical property (UV-Vis absorbance and fluorescence) development of MR was monitored. Antioxidant activity of maillard reaction products (MRPs) was investigated by a series of in vitro tests. The UV-Vis absorbance zero and first-order derivative spectrophotometr...
متن کاملTheoretical study of the reaction mechanisms involved in the thermal intramolecular reactions of 1,6-fullerenynes.
Substitution of a H atom by an alkyl group on the terminal carbon of the alkyne moiety of 1,6-fullerenynes has a strong impact on the products of the reaction undergone by this species after thermal treatment. While the reaction of 1,6-fullerenynes bearing an unsubstituted alkyne moiety results in the cycloaddition of the alkyne group to the fullerene double bond leading to cyclobutene-fused de...
